History:
Nova had things fairly easy in her life, a fact she is not unaware of. She was born into a pure-blooded family. Her father, William, was from America. He had attended Ilvermorny and was a Pukwudgie. Her mother, Eliza, was from England and had been a Slytherin while at Hogwarts. They met soon after William made his way to England, taking a job at the Ministry. He eventually became an Auror, while her mother became part of the Wizarding fashion world. She has an older sister named Aurora, who became an artist not long after leaving Hogwarts, and a younger brother, Orion, who is at Hogwarts as well, though he's sorted into Gryffindor.
Despite being born and raised in London, Nova was always drawn to the Gothic style and enjoyed experimenting with different looks and colors. In her first couple of years at Hogwarts, that style cost her more than it gained her; people made assumptions before they bothered to talk to her, and Nova, raised by a Slytherin who never taught her to shrink for anyone's comfort, gave back exactly what she got. She wasn't interested in softening herself to be liked. If anything, that period made her sharper and more particular about who she let close.
What she didn't expect was how many people would eventually come around. Once a few of them stuck it out past the eyeliner and the attitude and actually got to know her, Nova realized she'd been guarding a door that plenty of people were willing to walk through, if she let them. So she started letting them. These days she's less the standoffish girl she was at eleven and more the friend who's somehow adopted half the school, the one who notices when someone's missing from the table, who inserts herself into other people's problems whether they asked her to or not, who will absolutely embarrass you in public if she thinks it's for your own good. Her old wariness never fully vanished; she still reads people fast and doesn't trust easily. But once someone's in, they're in for good, and Nova will go to war for them without a second thought.
Spike the hedgehog remains her most constant companion regardless, usually somewhere on her person as she makes her way around Hogwarts, so keep an eye out for quills. Whatever people make of her bright hair, dark clothes, and habit of getting involved in things that aren't technically her business, she is true to herself and pursues the things that matter to her with determination and dedication. Personality:
Despite her appearances, Nova embodies the Hufflepuff values of loyalty, hard work, and fair play, though she wears them a lot louder than most Hufflepuffs bother to. Her dedication to her studies and love for learning have earned her the respect of her peers and professors alike, even when her Divination scores suggest her heart was never really in that particular subject. She's a creative and imaginative individual with a passion for fashion, and her unique sense of style is as much a declaration as it is an art form. She enjoys experimenting with different looks, and just as often ends up designing for other people, whether they asked for it or not.
Nova is also an animal lover with a soft spot for all creatures, great and small. Her pet hedgehog, Spike, is her constant companion and confidant, though these days he has to share her attention with a much wider circle.
Eliza, being a proud Slytherin, instilled in Nova a strong sense of self and the ability to stand up for herself, and it shows. Nova doesn't wait to be invited into other people's business if she thinks they need her in it. She has an eye for the people around her, quick to notice when someone's quieter than usual, missing from a meal, or clearly lying about being fine, and she will not let it go once she's noticed. That same instinct makes her allergic to bullying in any form; she'll step in without hesitation if she sees someone being pushed around, whether or not it involves her directly. Underneath the theatrics and the meddling is someone who takes her people seriously and isn't afraid to be a little much on their behalf.
